John Engler
Master Woodcarver
John Engler was born into a family of Artists. His father, Norman C. Engler, was an accomplished graphic designer. John's mother, Sis Engler, was a brilliant watercolorist and mastered drawing and painting the human figure. His uncle, Peter Engler, is responsible for the revitalization of woodcarving in the United States and was a master woodcarver as well.
John began carving while attending Southwest Missouri State University. He was awarded a bachelor of fine arts degree in 1983. John pursued the art of relief carving and watercolor painting from that point on. A professional woodcarver for over 50 years, he has participated in numerous art shows and currently has his work displayed in the Peter Engler Designs studio in Branson Missouri.
In addition, John has taught woodcarving and watercolor workshops and seminars for the past 38 years spanning over 15 states. This includes judging woodcarving and art shows as well.
Currently, John concentrates his artistic efforts on teaching relief carving and watercolor worshops, as well as human realistic bust carving. He has been married to his wife Karen for 43 years and they have four children together.
